Born in Weiz, Austria, Frank Stronach immigrated to Canada in 1954. Working from his garage, the young toolmaker established a business in 1957 and subsequently expanded into the production of automotive components. Today, multi-billion dollar Magna International is a leading global supplier of technologically advanced automotive components, systems and modules. With companies such as DaimlerChrysler AG and BMW AG among its customers, Magna has more than 200 manufacturing divisions that employ 82,000 people in 22 countries. Central to the company's success is Stronach's unique management philosophy, which empowers employees by making them stakeholders. Magna's Fair Enterprise business model predetermines the annual percentage of profits shared between employees, management and investors, and makes every employee a shareholder in the company. These rights are enshrined in Magna's governing Corporate Constitution.
