Placide PoulinMAAX Inc. Sainte-Marie de Beauce, Quebec In 1969, when he first started his business, Mr. Placide Poulin manufactured fibreglass snowmobile parts. With a decline in the market for these vehicles in the 1970's, the Beauce native had to explore new opportunities. In order to diversify his production, he began to market bathroom accessories. This outlet allowed the company to specialize in traditional cast iron and steel with fibreglass showers. Maax inc. became a public corporation in 1987 when it was registered with the Montreal Stock Exchange and was later listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1992. In 1998 as Chair of the Board, President and CEO of Maax Inc. Mr. Poulin won the Quebec Entrepreneur of the year award. Following a development strategy for the company based on growth through innovation and new market development, as well as a series of 15 carefully selected acquisitions, Maax Inc. became one of North America's largest bathroom, kitchen and spa products manufacturers. In 2004 Maax inc. sold to a consortium and Mr. Poulin headed up the founding of the Camada Group. The Camada Group, held by the Poulin Family, is a private joint-stock company located in Sainte-Marie de Beauce that specializes in the investment and acquisition of mid-sized businesses that focus primarily on home-related products. |
