John Bragg is Chairman, President and Co-CEO of Oxford Frozen Foods Ltd., a company he launched in 1968 that operates the largest fruit farm in the world, with over 12,000 acres of wild blueberries. Today Oxford Frozen Foods employs as many as 2,000 people during the peak season in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Maine. Oxford Frozen Foods produces many different types of products, including Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) wild blueberries, IQF carrots, IQF cranberries, sugar-infused products, dried and canned products, as well as battered vegetable and cheese products. Mr. Bragg is President of several affiliated companies, including: Bragg Lumber Co. Ltd; Cherryfield Foods Inc.; Peninsula Foods Ltd. and the Maine Wild Blueberry Company. He serves as Chairman of the Board for Bragg Communications Inc., EastLink Cable Systems, Buildrite Centres Inc. and FS Industries Ltd. and is a director of BioSan Laboratories in Derry, New Hampshire. John Bragg is a graduate of Mount Allison University im Sackville, New Brunswick and has honourary degrees from both Mount Allison and Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
Mr. Bragg is a director of several prominent Canadian companies including Sobey's Inc., the Empire Company Ltd., TD Financial Group and Canada Bread. He has won numerous awards for his entrepreneurship, including the Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year (Agriculture and Food) Award in 1994, and the Entrepreneur of the Year Atlantic Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. He is an inductee of the Nova Scotia and Canadian Business Halls of Fame and in 1999 received the Atlantic Canadian Philanthropist of the Year Award.
Mr. Bragg is an Officer of the Order of Canada.
